Today is the industries second Global Lifting Awareness Day #GLAD2021 and here at REID, we’re joining in and sharing what makes us and so many of our team ‘GLAD’ to be part of the global lifting industry.
We know it’s exciting, dynamic and, quite literally, lifesaving, but we also asked members of our team across the business within the US and from our HQ in the UK to sum up in just a few words what this industry means to them.
We heard things like: “full of challenges, but also full of excitement”, “full of passionate individuals that care about their work, their plant and their community”, “I love that we get to be part of making sure people are performing their jobs safely” and “I work and talk with people all across the world and learn about applications I would never have known existed”.
Some words and phrases came up time and time again in
the responses we received, and it is those which probably best capture the passion and commitment of the REID team for this industry.
Unsurprisingly perhaps, it was ‘Team’ which came up the most – both within REID and in partnership with our distributors and customers, and there was a real appreciation of working together in such a strong and supportive environment. Then it was ‘Diverse Applications’ with lots of references to the endlessly fascinating applications where REID davits and gantries are deployed around the world.
Third on the list was ‘A safe world’ with so many of team – whether they are working in design, sales or
operations - relishing the fact that our innovative products enhance safe working environments right around the globe. Then that interesting word ‘challenge', a fact of life in the lifting industry of course, and one of the main reasons why so many people at REID get such a buzz out of coming to work.
‘Fast moving’ and ‘Evolving’ were equally popular, with lots of the team saying they enjoy the fact that no two days are ever the same in the lifting industry. They like the continuous focus both at REID and beyond on developing new solutions in product design, sales, marketing and logistics and are glad that this is an industry with a forward-looking perspective.
